A mysterious object seen in the sky for which it is claimed no orthodox scientific explanation can be found, often supposed to be a vehicle carrying extraterrestrials. The term UFO was first used in 1952, by the Air Force to replace the term, flying saucer. UFO, Unidentified Flying Object. Just in the past couple of years a new term was brought to the mainstream, UAP, which stands for Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon.
